In collaboration with the University of Arizona and Orvieto Institute, the School of Art offers courses in studio art that utilize the rich history of Italian art and antiquity as a means of inspiration for art making. Orvieto, halfway between Florence and Rome and housing a collection of both historical and contemporary art, is the ideal location for an international study center.
The institute is supported by the Commune (municipal government) of Orvieto and the Civic Foundation for the Promotion of Orvieto. The goal of the institute is to provide an affordable overseas experience and quality courses for students interested in learning more about the wonders of Italy.
The Arizona in Italy program is one of University of Arizona's most popular study abroad programs. Students may enrich their studies in a variety of courses which are offered every Summer, with art courses now being offered in the Spring of 2010! In addition to Studio Art courses, classes include Classics, Archaeology, Art History, Political Science, Greek, Latin, and Italian.
